Ultra Slow Anime Repository – Fansub.tv
The post title is probably a little bit of an exaggeration, but I feel it conveys my old (and negative) opinion on Fansub.tv. In fact, if I still held the same opinion on Fansub.tv, I would probably not feature this relatively slow site (3 KB/s was the norm when I first used Fansub.tv, even during the off-peak period).
But recently, I tried Fansub.tv again after pimp commented that he could sometimes get around 50KB/s from it. Surprisingly, I found that I could get somewhere between 20KB/s to 40KB/s during the off-peak period (US night time).
Yes, that isn’t fast if compared to many of the direct download sites we have now, but for a relatively huge anime direct downloads repository – with no posting or even registration requirements – it’s pretty good.
1) Fansub.tv
- Speed: Slow (must download during off-peak period, or die of slowness)
- Content: Recent episodes from most fansubs put on Bittorent, plus a few older series (e.g. Kashimashi, Hotori ~ Tada Saiwai wo Koinegau, Suzuka, Pani Poni Dash!, Air, Eyeshield 21)
- Update Frequency: Very regular (as new episodes are released through BT)
- Note: You’ll have to wait after selecting to download an episode as Fansub.tv puts you in a download queue. But if you download during the off-peak period, the wait should be minimal.

Do you have to register in order to download from fansub.tv? Because I can’t find download links even though I look everywhere. @__@

Kindly ignore my previous message, I had being careless in my search for download links. However, I just found another direct download site. It’s located at http://avluis.com/downloads.php
It’s still under development, but the contents include latest episodes from Dah Poh!, Mai Otome and Eureka seven. A worthy http download site I would think.
My interest in watching anime is fading while the urge to download as many as my hard drives could hold has increased exponentially… -_-”

awesome, i new about this place, but never actually downloaded anything, guess i will now

just tested the site, if speed has been increased, I guess you cant really notice unless traffic is low. Downloading one anime was going to take about one day. Not really worth it.

oh one more thing, what the site is good for is getting the addresses of the sites that host the series, you can usally get them faster there if there using bittorent, or miRC.

Rainy: Lol. I’ll have to hope your DLing urge gets worse so that we can squeeze more anime DL sites out of you.
nimvus: Nah, I would think animesuki or baka-updates would be better to get the links. If you have to take a day to dl from fansub.tv, I guess you got the same speeds I used to get. It’s really, really not worth DLing then.

Rainy: Just checked it out, speeds aren’t too bad. But I’m not sure whether or not I should feature avluis since it’s still under development. If I do, it’s going to be flooded… Better not destroy a potential DL site so early.

[...] Just like Fansub.tv, or more accurately, yurikamome.info, Tirkx.com is a really slow anime direct downloads site with a really huge archive of anime downloads. But, you won’t be surprised at how slow it is when you realise that it apparently chugs through 2TB+ of bandwidth per day. It’s hosted in Thailand, so I think you’ll only be able to get fast speeds if you’re there. [...]

Nvm, I guess.

the website has improved lately. i can download at a minimum of 20kbps but i usually connect at 47kBps and 120kBps if i’m lucky.
as far as content, what i don’t like is that they tend to have different subbers for the anime. they could’ve made it so that the direct downloads would be one group only and not a mixture of different fansubbers (i.e. ep 1 by thisgroup, ep2 by thisgroup2, etc…)
May 29th, 2006 01:06
Yeah, me too. I would start dl’ing a series and get one ep at 30k, the next at 128, the next ep at 4k and then again the next at 120k and the next ep at 20k.
Some eps take 18 mins to dl and the very next eo takes 2.5 hours. Now for some reason the site dowsn’t come up…not even the forums… and I had only 3 more eps to go…. phoei!

Hmm, I never knew it was possible to get those kind of speeds, even during off-peak hours. My max is probably 50k.
I suppose their mirrors each have different uplinks.

Fansub TV is the coolest anime download page on the web! If you don’t like the slow direct download, you can get ~200 Kb/s on their bittorent. Another good thing about them is their huge variety of animations as well as having the freshest ones, ust being aired in Japan. Moreover, it’s a big community, and the forum is awesome, with related and unrelated discussion, as well as fanart competitions!

I dont know about slow downloads… i get over 300kb/s from the site.
I think you all just dont connect well with their server… kinda unfair to brand them with slow downloads… ah well

I agree with Ausdoerrt , I was leery of joining an anime forum ’cause I didn’t care for some of the vulgarity/commentary I read , but Fansub TV is top notch . They are professional and cordial , they have a cornucopia of anime to choose from . I’m glad I joined their forums and I’ve had no problems dl from their site , yeah , sometimes its a little slow but that’s when I clean house .^^
