Suppau.com – Anime Direct Downloads Forum
I seem to be forgetting quite a bit these days. When I was looking through my bookmarks list recently, I realised that I had yet to feature Suppau.com – even though it’s existed in the animesphere for a relatively long time. So, here’s the lowdown on Suppau.com:
1. Suppau.com
- Speed: Quite Fast
- Posts Required to Access Downloads: None at the moment.
- Content: 11 complete series (e.g. Basilisk, King of Bandits, Groove Adventure Rave, Erementar Gerad, Asagiri no Miko, Chrono Crusade, etc.) and 4 movies (all Inuyasha movies to date).
- Video Format: Most of the anime is in HQ .rmvb format, but there are one or two series that are in .avi or .ogm format.
- Note: While the name of the site is Suppau.com, that domain name is not linked to the site. You must use www.suppau.net to access the site, at least for now.

Hm… I dislike it when you have to participate in the community in order to download anime. Direct download should be fast and without hassle.
Do you know that Vision Anime actually has set up a direct download site? Here is the address: http://anime.dtwin.com/
HOWEVER, it requires you to enter username and password. they can be found by going to their irc. I think it’s at vision-anime @ irc.rizon.net (if my memory doesn’t fail me) And type in a certain trigger, which will be displayed in an automatic ad in their channel. Last time I checked, they have entire series of Tactics I think. Happy downloading. ^_^

Hm, but hosting is costly, no-one can afford hosting GBs of animes for everyone to download as they want.

hey rainy …. if its not a privacy issue .. could you please share the irc username and password out here … coz i don know and don connect to IRC … would really appreciate the efforts

Rainy: V-A with direct downloads? That I didn’t know at all. Now, just have to wait for their timed ad… Pity I’ve already seen Tactics though.
pimp: That’s true, but sometimes I question the motives behind setting up these direct download forums. In recent days, I’ve received donation + please click Google ads emails surprisingly often from certain forums. I know BW is expensive, but if your community won’t support it, then I say you shouldn’t be too pushy.
At least I can say that Suppau.com is not one of these pushy forums. In fact, all you need to do atm is just register, no posts required. But I think that will soon change given that they chug through 5+ TBs of BW per month.
tom: Even if the user:pass were shared here, it’s likely that V-A rotates the passwords often. So, there’s not really much point in sharing the user:pass.

OMG, just logged into V-A’s direct download sites (two actually). They are basically V-A’s archives. I saw series like Gakuen Senki Muryou, Daphne in the Brilliant Blue, The Big O and Tokyo Underground there.
Amazing stuff. I can’t vouch for speeds yet though.

There are a few direct download sites that don’t require any participation at all. Completely hassle free. (ZMAng knows a lot about those sites) I am just unwilling to waste even a few nanoseconds on forum to get access to direct download. HTTP download sites lose their meaning when they force active participation on you, since the better alternative would be just snatch a few torrents off animesuki and fire up Azurueus. And, yes. I am unreasonable like this.
And Tom, really, IRC has a wealth of anime download, why don’t you go to http://www.kasshin.net for a very detailed IRC tutorial if you don’t yet know how to use IRC. You will be glad you did.

It’s not like everyone can use bit torrent and IRC, when I was in dorm I couldnt use both.
Except a very few sites(which is much appreciated^^), most of those free sites will evetually change their policy. Cost is 1 reason, but it’s kinda sad when you pay hundreds per month and most ppl just come and leech off your site without saying anything. I can feel this, coz I was a webmaster too. Most of those ppl who do this dont earn any thing, in fact they often have to pay by their own money and time for everything. So what they want in return, is that knowing their effort is known and appreciated.
One example is animesanction, when I come to know it few years earlier, you just have to register to download^^. But its admin changed its policy later, and now it becomes a fun and lively community.

Of course, why you have to post and stuffs to just download files? If you have choices you dont need to force yourself doing the hardwork. But I just feel it’s very unfaired if we just hate some sites because they dont offer direct download without any hassle. I really appreciate them all, who love anime so much and spend their own money and time to contribute something to the cyber community.
Regards.

Both of you (Rainy & pimp) have a point. It really boils down to how you are willing to support these free direct download sites.
If you are going the path of hassle-free non-forum direct download sites, you’ll probably have to help with their revenue stream, e.g. Google ads, and the like (such as mezura.computed.net).
If you are going for forums like the excellent AnimeSanction.net, then all you need to do is participate in their community. This is because the owner and mods are truly doing this for free (no necessary donations or ads). But not all forums can do this because they do not have a free source of BW.
But as I said earlier in Comment 4, some of these participation-sites are getting pretty irritating. Too much soliciting for donations and ad-clicking when no one wants to support the site up in the first place.
Cheers.

pimp, I chuckled a little when you claimed that you don’t know how to use even bittorrent. Just to fulfill my curiosity: Do you live in Stone Age? ^_^
I think you have blown my distaste for download sites that require participation way out of proportion. By no means do I “hate” those sites. For hate is too exaggerated of a word for a mere website. On an unrelated note, it’s quite sad and awkward to see some tiny anime download communities languishing in obscurity. Not that I would lend a hand to them though.
Hmm.. by the way, I have recently found another exellent xdcc list. It’s located at http://www.yuu-kun.com/dat_xdcc/index.php @ delta anime network. Honestly… I derive more pleasure from downloading anime than watching them. Download Manic Symdrom, anyone?
Cheers.

Okay, okay. I think we can agree that there’s valid points on both sides of this Participation vs. No-Participation debate. Let’s not get emotional on this. If you guys are not, then just forgive me for this.
Anyway Rainy, I think pimp didn’t mean that he didn’t know how to use BT, but he couldn’t use it in his dorm due to ports being blocked and all.
Download Manic Syndrome, lol. I had that too a few years back. Download + burning 24/7. In fact, I still have hundreds of discs unwatched due to that ahmm… unfortunate syndrome.
17 Bots!!! Thanks a lot. Should definitely feature this soon.

Ok, just clear 1 thing up: you should read my post carefully you know?
“It’s not like everyone can use bit torrent and IRC, when I was in dorm I couldnt use both.”
You know that most schoold dorms use firewall and they dont allow us to use bit-torrent or whatsoever, dont you? It’s not like you dont know how to use it, but there’s no way to use it

Anyway, it’s not like im gaining or losing anything over this argue. And we both have our points so let’s stop now.
More like I’m spamming ZMang’s blog. Really sorry for that ZMang, if you excuse me^^.
My sincere apologies to you!

Don’t worry about it, but let’s end this here. Hehe, channel your energies towards commenting on the rest of my blog.

^^. Do you watch Karin? i think it’s quite cute one, only 13 eps. You can direct download from fansub.tv but it can be quite slow sometimes tho.
February 5th, 2006 19:55
Can you get fast speeds from fansub.tv at all? I think it’s far too large a list and probably far too many people download from it to be fast. That’s the primary reason I never featured fansub.tv and tirkx.com before.
Yeap, I watch Karin, but I have a few eps backlogged at the moment. Arghh.
February 5th, 2006 21:00
Sometimes it’s extremely slow, sometimes I get around 50KB/s or more (which should be considered fast on a big free site like it). They have lots of servers, so I think it really depends on which server and what time you download (err, you cant complain if you choose to download during rush hour, rite? ^^)
February 5th, 2006 23:16
I see. Hmm, if it’s actually possible to receive okay speeds on sites like those, it’s probably time to write a post on this. Thanks for the info.
