Some Downloads Down

Gah! It was nice while it lasted, but FileFront has terminated the account used to store quite a bit of the downloads hosted on Anime Field.

The reason: A supposed DMCA violation, which is ridiculous given that the fansubs hosted were unlicensed in the US (that is where FileFront is, is it not?).

Possible solution: I am probably looking at some other free file hosts. Although MegaUpload is a stable host, it is remarkably slow, which is something I suppose is inevitable given the large number of files and users on MegaUpload.

- For small files, I suppose it would be okay for me to host it on my own server.
- But for larger files, that would be rather disastrous (at least from my knowledge of the bandwidth consumptions of direct download sites). So, I will probably try to test out some free file hosts to see if any are fast (and stable) enough. Or, maybe I’ll find some other way to still use FileFront, lol.

Any suggestions? (I really hope this will not be treated as a rethorical question, lol)

i am a mod in an anime hosting yg, we already experienced what you already experienced and we even contacted there support but gone to no where is the conversation.

so like you we switch to megaupload, and it is our staple host right now, for other free hostings, i remember that filefactory is good alternative to megaupload’s slow speed

But filefactory’s download system is pretty irritating, with two 14 second waits (which is rather similar to filefront’s queue I guess). That isn’t a deterrent though.

Anyway, for small (and low traffic) files, I’ll probably just host it on one of my paid servers.

I’ll have to think about it for larger files.
