random.mayulive – Suzumiya Haruhi Direct Download Site

August 7th, 2006

Site Is Dead

For those who missed one of the best anime series this year – The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya – here’s a hassle-free anime direct download site, i.e. no registration or forum posting required, just for the series at your disposal.

There’s a whole host of Nagato pics too :) – though I’m not too sure whether they’re all work-safe.

1) random.mayulive

  • Speed: Quite Fast
  • Content: All episodes of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
  • Update Frequency: Not Applicable
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. registration or forum posting not required to access downloads.

Pink Sugar – Anime on Free File Hosts

August 6th, 2006

If you haven’t been driven to boredom by the two anime sites hosting anime on free file hosts (like Megaupload) we’ve seen this week, here’s another one.

Unlike the previous two though, this one is a forum which requires a set number of posts before allowing you access to their download links. So, I’m pretty sure it is going to be of interest only to some of you.

Nevertheless, note that… it’s pink all right – at least in terms of the forum skin used.

1) Pink Sugar

  • Speed: Unknown
  • Posts Required to Access Downloads: 15 posts for first set of anime and 30 posts for second set.
  • Posts Required Per Download: None
  • Content: 13 completed (e.g. Turn A Gundam, Mai Otome, DN Angel, etc.) and 2 ongoing anime series (Air Gear, Black Lagoon), as well as 5 movies and OVAs (e.g. Tsubasa Chronicle Movie, Hellsing Ultimate OVA, etc.)
  • Update Frequency: Low
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ)
  • Note: Free registration required. Forum posting also required to access downloads. The site only uses free file hosts, i.e. they do not have their own media server.

Anime-Sensei – .rm Anime Hosted on Megaupload

August 4th, 2006

Here’s yet another Blogger/Blogspot blog for anime hosted on Megaupload. We’ve already seen two, Da-Anime and ID-TV, but unlike those two, Anime-Sensei hosts series in .rm format for those who want small files (40 to 60MB).

Personally, I’d prefer .rmvb to .rm since there can be a perceivable quality difference when put in the hands of experienced encoders, but if you’re the type to watch and discard, then .rm files are no different compared to their variable bitrate (.rmvb) brethren.

1) Anime-Sensei

  • Megaupload (Free File Host) Speed: Average
  • Content: 36 completed (e.g. Smash Hit!, Rizelmine, Mai Otome, etc.) and 13 ongoing anime series (e.g. Tonagura!, TOKKO, The Third, etc.), as well as 7 OVAs (e.g. Golden Boy, Hantsuki, Happy Lesson Final, etc.).
  • Update Frequency: Quite Frequent
  • Video Format: .rm (LQ to MQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. registration or forum posting not required to access downloads. The site only uses free file hosts, i.e. they do not have their own media server.

AnimeDownloadz – DDL Site

August 4th, 2006

Here’s an anime direct download site hosting anime on both its own media server and Megaupload.

It isn’t very large, but it certainly has a respectable amount of anime, and even has a few of the rarer series, e.g. Blue Gender, Slam Dunk, Yumeria, etc.

Note that clicking “Downloads” brings you to their Megaupload database, while clicking “More Downloads” brings you to their media server.

1) AnimeDownloadz

  • Media Server Speed: Above Average
  • Media Server Content: 2 completed (Mouse, Yumeria) and 3 ongoing (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) anime series.
  • Free File Host Content: 10 completed (e.g. Rahxephon, Hellsing, Beyond the Clouds, etc.) and 2 ongoing anime series (Naruto, One Piece), as well as 9 movies (e.g. xxxHolic Movie, Dragonball Z movies, etc.).
  • Update Frequency: Quite Frequent
  • Video Format: .rm (LQ to MQ), .rmvb (LQ to MQ), .avi (HQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. registration or forum posting not required to access downloads.

ID-TV – Anime Hosted on Megaupload

August 4th, 2006

In terms of implementation, ID-TV (or Indonesia TV Entertainment) is most similar to Da-Anime, which we looked at early last month.

It is a Blogger/Blogspot blog filled with links to anime hosted on Megaupload, which is regularly updated by its admins. Unlike Da-Anime though, ID-TV doesn’t have a forum and all of its anime is listed directly on the blog.

1) ID-TV or ID-TV.info

  • Megaupload (Free File Host) Speed: Average
  • Content: 16 completed (e.g. Ai Yori Aoshi, Full Metal Panic, Princess Princess, etc.) and 6 ongoing anime series (e.g. Kamisama Kazoku, Ouran, Zero no Tsukaima, etc.), 5 OVAs (e.g. Love Hina Again, School Rumble OVA, etc.), as well as 13 movies (e.g. xxxHolic Movie, Kamen Rider Blade, etc.). Has a bit of manga, J-Pop albums, PVs, and J-Drama as well.
  • Update Frequency: Frequent
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. registration or forum posting not required to access downloads. The site only uses free file hosts, i.e. they do not have their own media server. Some episodes have been split into multiple parts, and have to be rejoined using software like HJ-Split. A tutorial on this has been provided.

Update: It seems that this site is in the process of moving. Here’s their new location.

Misha.Distrocity – Anime Direct Download Site

July 30th, 2006

Update: Misha.Distrocity has been consolidated into Rorikonjyanai/404 Not Found.

Here’s another hassle-free, i.e. no registration or forum posting necessary, anime direct download site from the owners of LMTC-Anime.com (formerly AnimeBlues.com).

It’s surprisingly fast even though it’s only running on a 15mbit uplink, but that’s probably due to the few leechers on it at the moment (3 or so on average). :) Edit: According to one of its admins, it’s actually running on a 100mbit uplink. Sorry for my incorrect reporting.

1. Misha.Distrocity

  • Speed: Quite Fast
  • Content: 16+ ongoing (e.g. Gundam SEEDCE73 Stargazer, Akagi, Inukami, etc.) and 11+ completed (e.g. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Air, Futari Ecchi, etc.) anime series – with particular focus on anime fansubbed by Mendoi and Triad.
  • Update Frequency: Quite Frequent
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ), .mkv (HQ), .mp4 (HQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. no registration or forum posting required to access downloads. However, download accelerators are not supported (tested with GetRight and NetTransport).

Nanashi-Fansubs XDCC Bots: Eureka seveN Haven

July 29th, 2006

For some reason or another, I suddenly got interested in watching Eureka seveN again yesterday – after an extremely long pause (I’ve only seen up to episode 4). So, I dug into my piles of CDs/DVDs only to find that the remaining eps. were missing.

I didn’t want to download them through humungous batch torrents, so I turned to anime direct download sites… only to find no fast DDL site with Eureka 7. And, turning to IRC, I found that Toybox – a popular XDCC bot serving Eureka 7 – had disappeared.

Luckily, Nanashi-Fansubs still had a trio of fast XDCC bots serving the series – all of which I’m currently using to download the tens of episodes I need to watch to catch up with the series.

Here are their pack lists:

1) Nanashi-Fansubs XDCC Pack Lists

  • Usual IRC Nicknames: Nanashi|Anemone, Nanashi|Honey, Nanashi|LFO
  • Usual Locations (IRC Server and Channels): #nanashi @ irc.rizon.net
  • Content: For Anemone, all episodes of Eureka seveN. For Honey, only recent episodes of Eureka 7. For LFO, all episodes of Eureka 7, Ichigo Mashimaro, as well as some episodes of Jinki Extend, Full Metal Alchemist, School Rumble and Noein.
  • No. of Download Slots: 12 for Anemone, 50 for Honey, 30 for LFO
  • Update Frequency: Varies
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ)
