Os2 Anime - Anime on YouTube

Os2 Anime - a component of sorts of Keiichi Anime Forever - aggregates anime episodes hosted on YouTube, providing a one-stop area to watch anime online, i.e. stream anime.

It has a large collection of anime series, and this collection was built ground up from admin (primarily) and user submissions - rather than through blatant link copying from other sites (which some YouTube-powered anime sites have done).

In fact, its collection has decreased substantially (137 series, to be exact) due to link copying by other sites (which was then discovered by CNET and then, by YouTube).

Note: This isn’t a direct download site. It’s an “anime streaming site” (any better name?), so some criteria judged below may not be completely relevant or in the same context as a normal direct download site. For example, speed here would refer to the speed of buffering and streaming, rather than download speed Edit: Although it’s an anime streaming site, it seems that its possible to actually download the anime from YouTube using the VideoDownloader Firefox extension or site (thanks to LewdishLoki for the tip).

1. Os2 Anime

  • YouTube Speed: Above Average to Quite Fast (based on general consensus rather than my own testing)
  • Content: 162 ongoing (e.g. TOKKO, Gakuen Heaven, xxxHolic, etc.) and completed (e.g. Trigun, Tokyo Underground, Tokyo Mew Mew, etc.) anime series and movies (e.g. Final Fantasy VII: Last Order, Initial D 3rd Stage, etc.).
  • Update Frequency: Unknown
  • Video Format: YouTube format (but if you download it using the VideoDownloader extension or site, you’ll get a .flv file)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. no registration or forum posting required to access anime. Anime is streamed directly, and must be watched online. Episodes cannot be downloaded. As such, for slow connections, this service isn’t suitable as a lot of buffering and re-buffering might be required in order to watch an episode. (Refer to edit made above)

I considered making a text link, but I didn’t know if Wordpress supports BBcode or HTML.

There’s one way to find out:
    [b]bold bb[/b]
    bold html

Hehe, now you know. But don’t worry about it.

It’s really my fault that I haven’t put up some implementation of character wrapping (word wrapping is already enabled) on the Recent Comments sidebar block.

I have a correction: The original collection was built by themselves by their own staff over a period of several months. User submissions were accepted about five months later but it only lasted one or two days. Within a short time though, the loss occurred and now they have opened submissions permanently.

Thanks for the correction, I’ll update the post - though the point I originally wanted to impart remains the same, i.e. collection not built through link copying.

Ah okay. It just bothered me. The staff seemed to get very stressed on the forums when many people kept asking about missing episodes when the team had only three or four working it.

    Great job on the site.

Thanks. I understand what you mean. It can really suck when you see something going wrong and people start blaming the wrong people.

I got a streaming site up with over 34 hours worth of watchable anime :) So if you list them that would be great!

In my opinion, http://anitube.blogspot.com is the best site to watch anime. It doesn’t have huge collection of anime, however the ones listed are the best I’ve ever seen (Mushishi, Elfen Lied, Code Geass, Black Lagoon, Claymore, Death Note, Ergo Proxy, Seirei no Moribito, D.Gray-man, Devil May Cry, etc). Or maybe the site admin just have similar taste as I do. :) I also notice that the site always has the latest episodes of Bleach and Naruto before I can find them anywhere else.

http://tv-links.co.uk and crunchyroll.com are pretty hard to beat. tv links has a lotta mainstream popular anime with fast streaming and crunchy roll is great with new just subbed animes
