Chiisana.net Down Until The 15th

Sunday, February 5th, 2006

Chiisana.net is down temporarily due to lack of bandwidth this billing month. According to their site announcement:

Due to lack of bandwidth for this billing month, we will not be distributing any more anime this billing month! The 15th of each month is the beginning of the new billing month, so we will start distributing anime again then, please come back then!

In addition, Chiisana.net’s admins answer a few oft-asked questions, like why Chiisana.net is in Japanese. So, while waiting for the 15th to come by, give the site a visit to find out the truth behind the mysterious Chiisana.net. :)

Bye Bye Anime.c.la

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Damn, I was recently told that anime.c.la now only hosts French-subtitled anime. Given the super download speeds people were getting from that site, I’m sure it will be missed by the English speaking anime crowd (that used to use it anyway).

You can actually verify this without downloading any episodes by reading the filenames of each episode for its fansubbing group. You’ll find that all the groups listed are French-subtitlers.

Animeblues.com Down Temporarily

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

I visited AnimeBlues.com to check out some downloads today and saw a downtime notice. Specifically, I saw:

animeblues.com r brOked

Anime.c.la Back?

Friday, January 20th, 2006

With the recent downtime experienced by anime.c.la, I’m sure many didn’t expect it to come back up. After all, it must have been chugging some huge amounts of bandwidth - with no sustainable and reliable revenue source funding it.

But, plug in anime.c.la into your browser and you will find a working page with a French notice, but anime downloads are still not up. If you’re interested in the notice, read below for a Babelfish-translated version:

Animate-Network is back! Ca says anything to you?! The largest site of download of animated at the time! The site with due closing because of lacks of uploadeur.. But this problem will not reproduce any more because we henceforth will use Club-footed 100mbps for uploader and will make the distro episodes

What does “Club-footed 100mbps” mean?

Edit: Christopher provides a much better translation in the comments below.

Nekodownloads.com and Anime.c.la Down

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

Some bad news for avid direct downloaders that frequent Nekodownloads.com and Anime.c.la. Nekodownloads.com is down at the moment due to hard drive failure and will be restored as soon as this is fixed (as reported by an admin in Anime-Yume’s forum). Anime.c.la’s problems, on the other hand, are unknown to me. It has been suffering from rather frequent outages in recent days, most probably due to heavy traffic / bandwidth use, but this outage has been one of the longest yet.

In fact, mezura.computed.net - another popular anime direct download site for the most recent fansubs - has also been suffering from sporadic FTP outages. Lucky for us, the outages tend to be temporary (less than 1 day).

Free Streaming Anime!

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Japanese media site Biglobe and Bandai Channel are now offering free streaming first episodes of a variety of anime series including Petopeto-san, Noein, Gunparade Orchestra, Witch Hunter Robin, RahXephon, Amaenaideyo, Gakuen Senki Muryou, Akane Maniax, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Okusama wa Mahou Shoujo, Sousei no Aquarion, My Hime, and the live action sci-fi/action series Shibuya 15.

This is definitely an excellent way to sample anime. Pity there is no subtitles though. Anyway here’s the link to the streams:

Now, I really don’t think most people who come to this blog can read Japanese, so Babelfish it. For those who do not know what Babelfish is, go here: http://babelfish.altavista.com and translate that page!

[News] anime.c.la Up But klaabu.pri.ee Down

Sunday, December 4th, 2005

Thanks to the one of the comments made on the post on the downtime of anime.c.la, we now know that anime.c.la is UP! (Strangely, I’ve noticed that one of the alternate URLs, http://choppingitup.com/sphpblog/upload/, is still targeted at www.teenhitchhikers.com).

But, I was also told that http://klaabu.pri.ee is down. And the worst part is that it is still down. No…

[News] anime.c.la Down?

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

A couple of days ago, the awesome free anime fansub direct download site, anime.c.la (a.k.a http://choppingitup.com/sphpblog/upload/), seems to have went down. All attempts to visit the site are being routed to some porn site, www.teenhitchhikers.com.

As of now, the problem has yet to be resolved. So, for now, be careful…
