May 19: This Week’s Updates

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Yep, Anime Field is officialy back to normal now that my 5-day trip is over. So, to mark its return, here’s a small update on the world of anime direct download sites:

  • Anime-Treasures.com (reviewed here) Down Again.
  • Lordneon.co.uk (reviewed here) Down Permanently?
  • AnimeFairGround.com (reviewed here) Redirecting to Job Site. Dead?

EveryAnime - Bleach and Naruto DDL Site

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006
The following was pre-written to ensure continuity while I’m on my trip to South Korea. As such, for the next few days, I might not be able to respond to any comments posted here. Thanks for understanding.

Let’s forge on in our quest to discover and document each and every Bleach and Naruto direct download site out there with EveryAnime - yet another Bleach and Naruto DDL site.

It’s still in the process of reuploading and relinking most of its anime (in fact, all of its Bleach and Naruto), but its Air Gear episodes are working fine.

1) EveryAnime

  • Speed: Quite Fast (tested on Air Gear)
  • Content: Recent episodes of Bleach, Naruto and Air Gear (about 5 episodes for each series).
  • Update Frequency: Quite Frequent
  • Video Format: .rmvb (MQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. no registration or forum posting required to access downloads.

DeimonHigh.com - Eyeshield21 Direct Downloads Forum

Monday, May 15th, 2006
The following was pre-written to ensure continuity while I’m on my trip to South Korea. As such, for the next few days, I might not be able to respond to any comments posted here. Thanks for understanding.

Now for another break from the Bleach and Naruto marathon. This one is also an anime-specific site, but for Eyeshield21 instead.

So, if you happen to follow Eyeshield21, here it is:

1) DeimonHigh.com

  • Speed: Unknown
  • Content: All Eyeshield21 anime episodes and manga (hosted on free file hosts).
  • Update Frequency: Frequent
  • Video Format: Unknown
  • Note: Free registration and 10 non-spam forum posts required to access its direct downloads. Provides recent episodes through YouTube as well. So, if you’re really desperate for a particular episode, and just can’t be bothered to make those forum posts, well…

I know there’s a lot of unknowns in this feature, and I apologize. But since I don’t follow Eyeshield21, I don’t really have any reason to make those non-spam posts.

Therefore, any comments from experienced users of DeimonHigh are very, very welcome. :)

DragonBallZ DivX - Established Bleach and Naruto Direct Download Site

Sunday, May 14th, 2006
The following was pre-written to ensure continuity while I’m on my trip to South Korea. As such, for the next few days, I might not be able to respond to any comments posted here. Thanks for understanding.

Next up, DragonBallZ DivX. It’s an established site with a large number of members (17000+ if you take a look at their member statistics), so many of you might have heard of it already.

It provides quite a number of different anime series for its members, but Bleach and Naruto remain as primary direct download targets.

1) DragonBallZ DivX

  • Speed: Quite Fast
  • Content: Recent episodes of Bleach and Naruto (about 20 episodes for each series), plus a few other series (e.g. Soul Link, Blood+, etc.)
  • Update Frequency: Frequent
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ)
  • Note: Free registration required for most direct downloads provided. There is also an option for Premium Downloads - which you must pay for. However, it’s just an option.

OMG! Anime - Anime Direct Downloads Forum

Saturday, May 13th, 2006
The following was pre-written to ensure continuity while I’m on my trip to South Korea. As such, for the next few days, I might not be able to respond to any comments posted here. Thanks for understanding.

At the time of writing of this post, OMG! Anime is offering a wide range of direct downloads (almost) hassle-free, i.e. no registration or forum posting necessary to access them. I say “almost” because the download section of the site loads two pop-up ads.

But they are all in .rmvb or .rm, so I’m pretty sure not everybody will be interested.

1. OMG! Anime

  • Speed: Quite Fast
  • Posts Required to Access Downloads: None at the moment.
  • Content: 88 complete anime series (e.g. Arc the Lad, One Piece, Black Cat, Card Captor Sakura, Hellsing) and movies (e.g. Air the Movie, Appleseed, Laputa).
  • Video Format: .rmvb (MQ to HQ) and .rm (LQ to MQ)
  • Note: Currently hassle-free, i.e. no registration or forum posting required to access downloads. However, the download section of the site consistently triggers 2 pop-up ads.

Two pop-up ads. Arghh, reminds me a little of Getitfido.com. But bandwidth does get expensive I guess.

Edit: According to the admin of OMG! Anime (Weedy-kun), registration has been made necessary and there’s actually only 1 pop-up ad. Furthermore, Weedy-kun says that although most anime series there are in .rmvb format, some .avi anime is available.

Girl Anime Blogger Traits

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Eeks. Over at tokyojupiter.blog, there’s a brief post on several traits female anime bloggers might exhibit through their blogging. Surprisingly, I seem to conform to 2.5 out of 4 of the traits listed there… but I guess not really in the same context the traits were written for. For one, I post far less screencaps than most out there simply because I’m damn lazy, and post nothing about my material acquisitions because of a spoilt digicam.

South Korea Trip

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Eeks. Sorry again. I’ll be going on a 5-day tour of South Korea starting tomorrow. So… updates will be sporadic (some posts have been pre-written for auto-publishing during my trip).

KragaMuffin - Established Anime Direct Download Site

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Breaking our streak of Bleach and Naruto sites is KragaMuffin - a pretty famous and established direct download site. It’s always been featured on Anime Field’s A-Z List, but never in a standalone feature post.

So, here it is:

1) KragaMuffin

  • Speed: Quite Fast
  • Content: 24 complete anime series (e.g. Pita Ten, Green Green, Kita-he Diamond Dust Drops, etc.) and OVAs (e.g. Blue Submarine) , as well as 2 movies (e.g. Pia Carrot, Chibi Maruko-chan)
  • Update Frequency: Low
  • Video Format: .avi (HQ)
  • Note: Hassle-free site, i.e. no registration or forum posting required to access downloads. Uses FTP (rather than HTTP) as its transfer mechanism, but you shouldn’t feel any difference since its an anonymous FTP (no username and password required).
