.rmvb Anime Direct Download Sites

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

Now, I do know that most anime lovers will not go near .rmvb files due to the alleged loss of quality involved. But from personal experience - both in watching and encoding .rmvb anime - I have found that High Quality .rmvb files are possible. You will just have to see how big the .rmvb files are. Files around 90mb for a single episode tends to be of High Quality (with no noticeable quality degradation).

So, here are a few sites to download .rmvb anime fansubs from:

1) http://realitylapse.com

  • The daddy of all .rmvb anime download sites with
  • A total of 1109 downloads from around 34 series, such as Chobits, Vision of Escaflowne, Hellsing, Gundam Wing, Excel Saga, Fruits Basket and Hunter x Hunter
  • Up to 3 concurrent downloads at once

2) http://anime-empire.com

  • This was down for a while before this, but is up with more downloads than before
  • Around 200 episodes up for download, from series like Beet the Vandel Buster, Bleach, Xenosaga and Eyeshield 21
  • Video quality (and file size) tends to be much lower if compared to Realitylapse.com episodes

3) http://animeambition.com

  • Only around 20 episodes for download, from series like Air, Bleach, Suzuka, Gundam Seed Destiny and Naruto
  • Requires free registration

4) http://aheaven.net

  • 150+ anime episodes available for download, from series like Law of Ueki, Trinity Blood, School Rumble, Kanon, Kidou Shinsengumi, Lamune, Elfen Lied and Iriya no Sora
  • Video quality is quite good
  • Requires free registration

Overall, I see .rmvb anime downloads as rather attractive to anime watchers who have slower connections or do not care what format they watch (especially for rarer series).

Itsudatte My Santa OVA Ep. 2

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

The second out of three episodes of Itsudatte My Santa continues the slapstick comedy begun by the first episode.

The episode begins with the “revelation” that Mai is stuck in the human world for at least a year (until the next Christmas) as a result of overusing her magical powers. Not too long after that, the story shifts to the beach, where Mai meets her sister, who is named Maimai…ahmm.

Well, Maimai’s role here is to be the harbinger of doom, or rather the person who announces the arrival of Mai’s childhood friend, Shirley. Like all childhood friends of course, they are hugely competitive (with each other) and when Shirley tells Mai that she (Mai) has to return to “Santa-land”, Mai refuses.

Not for long though. Mai meets up with one of her teachers at Santa-land, who happens to be selling food at the beach (well, what’s new?) and is talked into returning. The actual conversation is in fact rather vague (and you will know why in the next episode’s preview).

So, the seriousness returns as Shirley (with the help of Maimai, I think) tries to arrange some sort of farewell party for Mai and Santa - which meets many obstacles as Mai herself doesn’t seem to want to say goodbye. But a farewell party does occur as Shirley stops time just for Mai and Santa at the very last minutes of the day.

And there’s the end of the second episode. I’m not sure if you share my observations, but I seem to see some sort of pattern in this series: The plot goes something like “serious-slapstick-serious”. We’ll have to see about the next and final episode.
